Village website goes from strength to strength

Viewing doubles!

For those who are not familiar with its history, the East Dean & Friston website has now been going for 2 years
It has a unique method of operation, very different to other village websites:
o Other villages have a single webmaster, who has to edit and post all information. This is cumbersome and often is not up to date,
o With our village website, each organisation (club, society etc) appoints a webmanager who is responsible for posting news/events/reports/pictures to his/her own site. We now have 31 webmasters

And it has been a great success! Website visitors have risen from around 1000 visits per month in 2003 to over 2000 in 2005. Pages viewed have also risen,now averaging 6000 per month. The most popular pages are Club pages, walks and events.
Feedback has also been very positive, with compliments on the site from many organisations throughout the UK and overseas ". . . yours is among the very best that I have seen.”
• Development since launch includes: Poll of local issues; e-cards; Local reference books; Parks; Walks
• Future Plans will feature residents small ads and club picture galleries;
• Advertising is FREE for a basic listing, only £25 per year for a custom page. This has brought sufficient income to cover the small operating costs
