Last Night of the Proms 2009

By general agreement this year's Last Night of the Proms in the Village Hall was the best yet and as boisterous as ever. For the 7th year running the Hall was decked out with Union Jacks and everyone arrived suitably dressed as outrageously patriotic that they could be. The second half TV performance from the Royal Albert Hall, showed on 2 large projection screens and 3 televisions with the latest HD reception, built up the musical atmosphere with the marvelous trumpet playing by Alison Balsom leading to a fitting climax with mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly singing “Rule Britannia”. The traditional music reverberated around the hall and with energetic flag waving by the Prommers left everyone excited and exhausted.
