East Dean & Friston Shopping Bus Service from Your Home

Every Tuesday from 8 stops

The Parish Council is considering a trial of a weekly shopping bus service to collect and deliver residents to stopping places around the East Dean and Friston estate. It would run to and from the local shops first and then on to Eastbourne once a week on Tuesday morning, collecting passengers from about eight stops around East Dean and Friston. It would then return from Eastbourne about 3 hours later in the early afternoon.

It would be helpful for the Parish Council to have an indication of the level of support among residents. In order for the trial to start in September a decision will need to be made at the next Parish Council meeting on Thursday July 1st, which is only a short time off, so I would be grateful if you could please help. You are not being asked to support the project but to give an honest assessment of whether you would actually use the bus. This is a straw poll but it will be of help.

The proposed bus stopping places are The Link; Dene Side junction with Peakdean Lane; Dene Side junction with Hillside; Junction of Warren Lane with the Brow; Windmill Lane; Downlands Way shops;Village Hall Park & Ride; Eastbourne Terminus Road.

The proposed timing is to pick up and return from the local shops between 10:20 and 11:30. The bus will pick up Eastbourne passengers on this return journey from the local shops leaving for Eastbourne at 11:35 and returning at 14:50.

All fares would be FREE to bus pass holders and fares within the village of £1.40 single and £2.10 return are proposed for non bus pass holders. Eastbourne fares for those without a bus pass will be decided later.
