Consultation on number of Parish Councillors

Wealden District Council (WDC) has confirmed that the Parish Council will reduce the number of councillors from 14 to 9 with effect from 1 April 2011 - in time for the Parish Council Elections in May 2011.

The Parish Council aims to achieve Quality Status but in order to do so there is a number of criteria that have to be met. The first of these is that at least 75% of councillors must be elected. Reducing the number from 14 to 9 will make this achievable and is a much more realistic number for our parish.
