East Dean and Friston Bowling Club

East Dean & Friston Bowling club was formed in 1936 when the current site was hand dug by local members. In 2007, thanks to generous financial support and grants from Wealden District Council, Sussex Playing Fields, “Grassroots” (East Sussex County Council) and Veolia Environmental Services, plus profits donated by club member Frances Mace from her Antiques Fairs, and also from individual members and a Lottery Grant, we were able to replace the old Clubhouse with a new purpose-built Pavilion with full kitchen facilities and ladies’ and gents changing rooms.  An enlarged patio area has also much improved the overall site.

We are a friendly Club and membership is open to Ladies and Gentlemen without restriction.  The Club plays flat green bowls in accordance with the World Lawn Association rules, and during the season we invite 17 local clubs to play competition matches with us on our Green, with corresponding away matches at their Greens.

New members, experienced or not, are always most welcome.
