East Dean and Friston

Residents’ Association

Welcome Pack for new Residents

Taking care of where we live.

Firstly, a warm welcome to your new home from the Residents Association.

As residents of the Parish we are lucky to have some of Sussex’s most iconic landscapes right on our doorstep. Many of us enjoy panoramic views of the rolling hills towards Belle Tout Lighthouse and the sea.  The enclosed beach at Birling Gap, and the Seven Sisters cliffs are within walking distance or a short drive away.  Friston Forest offers an alternative landscape, with plenty of walking and cycling trails that are ideal for families and dog walkers. Even just walking around the Parish you are likely to get a strong sense of the natural world that surrounds you.

So once all the unpacking is done you will hopefully be able to turn your attention to getting out and about.

The following are quick links to help you explore the local landscapes.

Closer to home

Here in the parish we are fortunate to have many residents who have a wealth of knowledge about local flora and fauna. If you are considering a project and want to have a chat on environmental issues we will try our best to connect you. Whether it’s about encouraging hedgehogs into your garden, or planting to increase biodiversity, just drop us a line on

Get involved

We hope you decide to join the Residents’ Association and look forward to welcoming you as a new member. (Details of how to do this are on the following page.)

If you have a particular interest in the environment, and you would like to join our group of eco volunteers, please get in touch.  There are a variety of environmental projects that the residents’ association want to get up and running, but whilst we have an ambitious list, we want to hear from you about your ideas too. You can be involved in as little or much as you wish.

Being a volunteer is a great way to meet other like minded residents and get to know more people, and of course have a bit of fun too! If you are interested in joining our eco group please get in touch on EDFRAecocare@gmail.com
