East Dean and Friston are located half a mile inland from the south coast of England, four miles from Eastbourne to the east and five miles from Seaford to the west.

The coast road, the A259, runs through the centre of the villages. If coming from the direction of London the best route is via the M23 and A23, turning east onto the A27. Follow the A27 until just after Lewes and then turn south at the Beddingham roundabout towards Newhaven, on the A26. At Denton, turn east onto the A259 and follow the road to East Dean and Friston.
