Sparkling Perry and Roaring Tiger showcase OpenArt2010
August 6th to 8th
International and award-winning artists will be showing at OpenArt 2010 to be held at East Dean and Friston over the weekend August 6th to 8th. Celebrating local creativity, 27 artists are throwing open their homes, garages and studios to art lovers to view and to buy.
And that's just for starters!
In the Old Village Hall, John Napier, who has achieved international acclaim for his stage designs for "Les Miserables” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”, will be exhibiting his paintings and collages. In the new Village Hall on Friday August 6th, local film makers Tom Tyrwhitt and Ian Pons Jewell will be showing short films they have each created. On Saturday evening, Grayson Perry, the Turner Prize winner, will be explaining why “I believe in Art” to illustrate his contemporary pottery.
The best of local bands and musicians will be playing on the village green on Sunday, outside the historic Tiger Inn. Over the weekend there will be a Young Artists Exhibition, and on Sunday morning a Children’s Workshop.
So come along and enjoy our weekend. Catalogues with a map are available from local East Dean shops.
This weekend event is supported by the Gilbert Estate.
