Welcome!
We look forward to getting to know you...
Whether you are new to our villages or have lived here for many years, we're pleased to welcome you to the parish of East Dean and Friston.
We offer a range of activities for all ages and persuasions, which the pages on this site tell you something about.
We are part of the Church of England, but welcome and include people from a wide variety of backgrounds and denominations, and we hope that you will find a home with us.
We run regular Alpha courses, home groups, and children's activities, among many other things. There is an emphasis on friendship, encouragement, prayer and teaching from the Bible.
There are, not one, but two church buildings (or worship centres) here in this parish. Friston church is our centre of traditional (Book of Common Prayer) worship. East Dean church uses a variety of worship services and styles. Check out the services page for more details.
If you are not a Churchgoer, no matter; join us for coffee at around 10.30am - after the 9.30am morning service - in East Dean Church, any Sunday morning.
We have coffee outside (in the summer) if the weather permits and would love to meet you; you can be sure of a very warm welcome. If you want to learn more about life in the Village, this is the place to be!
There is more information about all village clubs, societies and events on the various sections of this web site and, of course, details of all Church activities on the Church pages.
Our aim is ‘to bring more of God into more of our lives’. So, in welcoming you to the church, we hope that you will discover more of the God who loves us, changes us, and shows himself to us through Jesus Christ. We believe that following Jesus offers forgiveness for the past, purpose for the present and hope for the future. David Baker, the Rector (minister) and other members of the churches are always happy to meet with you to talk through spiritual issues or questions you may have.
We welcome you and look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
David Baker (Rector) and the Church Wardens
(We are also linked with another, separate parish, that of St Andrew's Jevington. Together, the two parishes form one local church area called a 'benefice'. Each parish has its own parochial church council (PCC), but the benefice as a whole is served by the same Rector and his colleagues).
