The road is approximately 4.8m across. This means that the maximum width available for vehicles in 2.4m, if residents verges are to remain untouched. There must be some clearance between works industrial vehicles and residents cars, etc. Therefore, only vehicles with a maximum width of say 2.1m should be allowed access – this would allow vehicles of the width of, such as, a Land Rover Discovery to pass – with care, also carers vehicles and the smaller vans for meals on wheels. Unfortunately larger delivery vehicles – furniture lorries, skip lorries, builders merchants, buses etc will not be able to pass during the working hours. The contractors will manage the traffic flow but it will inevitably cause some inconvenience and delays to people. It would be useful to ask residents on the approaches to the works not to park their vehicles on the road within 50m to avoid traffic congestion.
